Israel is a state of shook as reports revealed that Qatar had recruited former Mossad official and paid him in exchange for services
A former official in Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency was subjected to a cautionary investigation on suspicion of receiving funds from Qatar and providing services to the country while participating in the negotiating team at the start of the war, without Israel’s knowledge.
According to i24news, this is the second former employee of the agency implicated in the case.
He wasn’t arrested but was barred from contacting the others involved.
The headquarters of the families of Israeli hostages said that the case demonstrated Qatar’s infiltration of the holiest sites of the struggle for the return of prisoners, and called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “conduct a purge”.
The case concerns two lines of activity between Qatar and Netanyahu office officials.
The campaign of American Jewish lobbyist, whose Lighthouse project, initiated by Jonatan Urich and Israel Einhorn, both of whom work in Netanyahu’s media circle, was designed to improve Qatar’s image ahead of the 2022 World Cup, in collaboration with Israeli companies, including a company owned by IDF Major General (res.) Yoav Mordechai, and the high-tech Kios company.
The Israeli police investigation found clear evidence of business ties between Urich and another former Mossad employee connected to the project.
The second campaign, exposed on Israeli Channel 12, was run the American Jewish lobbyist on behalf of Qatar, mediated by Einhorn, and employed by Netanyahu’s spokesman, Eli Feldstein.
The aim was to promote, through statements to the Israeli press, that Qatar was the preferred mediator for the prisoner swap with Hamas, not Egypt.
