US President Donald Trump expressed hope on Sunday that a settlement would be reached next week regarding the conflict in Gaza, despite the stalled ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas in Doha.
“We’re talking and we hope to reach a settlement within the next week,” Trump said, reiterating optimistic remarks he made on Gaza on July 4.
Delegations from both sides have been trying for a week to reach a temporary truce to end the 21-month-long fighting in the Gaza Strip.
On Saturday, Israel and Hamas traded accusations of obstructing indirect negotiations being held in Doha, mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, to end the devastating war.
