The Iranian armed forces call on residents of Tel Aviv and Haifa to evacuate and warn of punitive attacks that Tehran intends to launch
Iran’s armed forces chief of staff, Abdolrahim Mousavi, urged residents of the Israeli cities of Haifa and Tel Aviv to evacuate, warning of punitive attacks planned by Tehran.
Mousavi spoke in a video broadcast on state television for the first time since his appointment as successor to Mohammad Bagheri, who was killed Friday in an Israeli strike as the Jewish state launched an offensive against military and nuclear sites in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“Punitive operations will be carried out soon,” Mousavi said, noting that the strikes launched against Israel so far were intended as “deterrence”.
Mousavi “strongly urged the residents of the occupied territories, especially Tel Aviv and Haifa, to leave these areas for their own safety”.
Iran’s top military official urged Israelis not to “fall victim” to what he called the “brutal whims” of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
On Monday, Israel warned residents of an area north of the Iranian capital to evacuate before launching an airstrike on the state television headquarters, which announced the deaths of three people in the bombing.
