Trump: I told Netanyahu that he should be ease on Gaza as the Palestinians are suffering and need food and medicine
US President Donald Trump said on Friday that there is an urgent need for medicine and food in Gaza, and that his country is working to ensure their delivery to the Strip.
This came in statements made before boarding his plane to the Italian capital, Rome, to participate in the funeral of Pope Francis, which will be held on Saturday.
In response to a question about the shortage of medicine and food in Gaza, Trump said he had discussed the issue of delivering aid to the Strip with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
He added, “I told Netanyahu that he must be lenient with the Gaza Strip… The Palestinians there are suffering… There is a dire need for food and medicine… We’ll take care of that”.
Since March 2, Israel has banned the entry of humanitarian aid, fuel, and medicine into the Gaza Strip, where nearly two million Palestinians are struggling for survival.
