US President Donald Trump promised Russia and Ukraine big trade if the two countries reach an agreement this week, without providing details.
This came in a post by Trump on Truth Social on Sunday, in which he urged Russia and Ukraine to reach an agreement after a temporary ceasefire over Easter.
Trump wrote, “I hope Russia and Ukraine reach an agreement this week, after which both countries will begin making massive trade deals with the United States and making a fortune”.
Trump didn’t reveal any details regarding the agreement he hopes the two sides will reach.
On April 18, the US president said he might abandon ceasefire talks if one side makes things difficult, giving Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a choice between fighting or engaging in lucrative business.
On Saturday, the Russian Kremlin said that President Vladimir Putin received a report from Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov on the situation on the contact line in Ukraine.
The statement quoted Putin as saying, “For humanitarian reasons, we are announcing a ceasefire on the occasion of Easter, starting from 6:00 PM on Saturday until midnight on Sunday/Monday, by the Russian side”.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday that the temporary ceasefire declared by Russia for Easter had been repeatedly violated by the Russian military.
