Russian defense ministry: Shooting down more than 100 Ukrainian drones over nine regions overnight
Russia’s defense ministry said Wednesday it had shot down more than 100 Ukrainian drones over nine regions overnight in one of the largest such attacks on its territory since the start of the war.
“Air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 104 Ukrainian drones overnight,” the Russian defense ministry said in a statement on Telegram.
Debris from one drone caused a fire at a refinery in the Nizhny Novgorod region, according to authorities and local media.
The bulk of the drones were shot down over the Kursk and Bryansk regions, with smaller numbers intercepted over Smolensk, Tver, Belgorod and elsewhere.
Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said a civilian was injured in a strike on a residential building.
The Ukrainian military said Russia launched a drone attack overnight, triggering air alerts in several Ukrainian regions.
Meanwhile, Russian forces continue to advance in several sectors of the fighting fronts, with reports continuing to come in about the disintegration of Ukrainian defense lines on several fronts.
