HTS leader: We’ll publish a list of the names of the most senior people involved in torturing the Syrian people to hold them accountable
The leader of Hayat Tahrir al Sham, Ahmad al Sharaa, (Abu Mohammed al Jolani), who leads the Syrian opposition factions that toppled President Bashar al Assad, announced that the new authorities in Syria will soon publish a first list of the names of the most senior people involved in torturing the Syrian people to pursue and hold them accountable.
In a statement published early Tuesday on Telegram, al Sharaa, said, “We’ll offer rewards to anyone who provides information about senior army and security officers involved in war crimes”.
He added, “We won’t hesitate to hold accountable the criminals, murderers, security officers and army involved in torturing the Syrian people… We’ll pursue the war criminals and demand their release from the countries to which they fled so that they may receive their just punishment”.
He explained that the next government that will take power in Syria will offer rewards to anyone who provides information about senior army and security officers involved in war crimes.
He continued, “We’ve affirmed our commitment to tolerance for those whose hands aren’t stained with the blood of the Syrian people, and we have granted amnesty to those who were in compulsory service,” stressing, “blood and rights of the innocent dead and detainees won’t be wasted or forgotten”.
