Putin: No one today has the means to confront Russia’s latest weapons

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced, Thursday, that no one today has the means to confront the latest Russian weapons, such as the Oreshnik missile.

“There are currently no means to counter such weapons such as Oreshnik missiles,” Putin said in an address to the Russian Armed Forces personnel and Russian citizens about the events in the zone of the special military operation.

He stressed that modern air defense systems don’t intercept Oreshnik missiles, but rather attack targets at speeds of up to 10 Mach, or about 3 kilometers per second.

“There is no way to counter such weapons today… Missiles attack targets at a speed of Mach 10, or 2.5-3 kilometers per second,” he said.

He noted that the combat tests of the Oreshnik missile system are being conducted in response to the aggressive actions of NATO countries against Russia.

Later, the Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Friday that his country will continue testing new weapons systems.

The Russian presidency, the Kremlin, said in a statement that Putin held a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, representatives of the military industry and manufacturers of missile systems in the country.

Putin noted at the meeting that Moscow had successfully tested its Oreshnik ballistic missile on Thursday during the Russian attack on one of the facilities of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex.

He said that Russia faces new threats today, which makes studies on the development of such weapons of vital importance.

He considered that “the weapons system tested yesterday is a powerful guarantor of Russia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty… Number one in the world has such a weapon”.

He added, “Today there is no means in the world that can resist or prevent this missile… We’ll continue to test new weapons systems”.
