A prominent Israeli Israeli journalist and author, Gideon Levy wrote in condemnation that a journalist who had no idea what his job was distributing chocolates to passersby on live television to celebrate a targeted killing, stressing that Israel had never descended to such a low level.

Gideon Levy added in his Haaretz column that another, more important and popular journalist, Ben Caspit, a representative of the pseudo-moderate center, wrote on X that “Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was crushed in his lair and died like a lizard… A fitting end,” as if he had blown up the bunker himself, according to Levy.

However, the extent of the deaths caused by the 80 American bombs isn’t yet clear, knowing that the numbers will have no effect in Israel, whether its 100 or a thousand innocent civilians, and even the death of tens of thousands of children won’t change anything in the Israeli mood, according to Levy.

Levy wondered whether Israel was better off on Sunday morning than it was on Friday morning.

He said that the mood of most Israelis had improved after a gloomy year, and that they had returned to worshipping the military establishment and venerating Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but what had changed?

If Hassan Nasrallah had not chosen to die because he was a sworn enemy of Israel and Lebanon, killing him wouldn’t save Israel.

In our first week without Nasrallah, Levy continued, it would be best to look around us.

The West Bank is on the verge of exploding, Israel is stuck in a devastated Gaza with no way out in sight for the captives, Moody’s has downgraded the economy to junk, and the mass slaughter that began in Gaza is spreading to Lebanon, where half a million people have been displaced from their homes, in addition to two million in the Strip who are wandering around homeless.

It’s better not to mention Israel’s international standing, because looking at the UN General Assembly during Netanyahu’s speech on Friday was enough – according to Gideon Levy – and the security situation is shakier than it seems, and a regional war may break out after we took great steps towards it on Friday.

During the past year, Israel has spoken only one language, the writer says, which is the language of unbridled war and force.

It’s depressing that millions of people have lost everything because of this, while bombs were falling on the suburbs amidst the applause of the Israelis, millions in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon were crying bitterly over their fate, over their dead and the crippled, over their lost property, and over the loss of the last crumbs of their dignity after being left with nothing.

Levy concluded that the volcano will erupt one day whether Nasrallah is dead or alive, although Israel, which depends on America for the massacres in Gaza and the war in Lebanon, believes that it can continue this way forever, and does not see any other option.

However, this won’t be possible without the support of Washington, which won’t remain this way forever, given its isolationist tendencies.
