Netanyahu reveals the fate of Israeli hostages in Gaza and talks about a new proposal being prepared to be presented to Hamas
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed before the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee in the Knesset the fate of the Israeli prisoners held by Hamas in Gaza
Netanyahu confirmed that half of the remaining 97 hostages are still alive, according to what the Times of Israel reported, citing sources who attended the meeting.
Netanyahu explained that the information indicates the possibility of killing about 50 hostages, which is more than the number previously confirmed by the Israeli army, as the army announced that 33 of the hostages were killed in Gaza.
On this context, Haaretz newspaper added that the number of hostages currently being held is 101 hostages, and confirmed the death of 35 of them, which indicates a conflict in the numbers regarding the number of living and dead.
When Netanyahu was asked about the measures taken to return the prisoners, he indicated that there were several proposals under consideration, including a proposal submitted by Gal Hirsch, who is responsible for the issue of hostages and missing persons, to the United States, but this proposal hasn’t yet been communicated to Hamas.
In another context, Netanyahu indicated his expectations that the International Criminal Court in The Hague might issue arrest warrants against him.
He considered that the court’s public prosecutor, Karim Khan, had political leanings, and that the criminal court wasn’t a legal body but a political body, describing it as a political system.
