Yair Lapid reveals information about talks with several parties including Likud members to topple Netanyahu’s government
Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid revealed on Saturday that talks are underway with various parties, including members of the Likud party, to bring down Netanyahu’s government.
On Friday, the Washington Post published an article about the future of Benjamin Netanyahu and his extremist government in light of the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu threw a political bombshell at the Biden administration this month, claiming that the United States was delaying major arms shipments to Israel, but Netanyahu’s claims were denied by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who visited Washington for talks with his US counterpart.
At the same time, Netanyahu has come under harsh criticism in opinion pieces written by former prime ministers Ehud Barak and Ehud Olmert: Barak and other prominent Israelis have said Netanyahu’s invitation to speak before Congress next month should be rescinded because he doesn’t represent most Israelis.
The defense minister Yoav Gallant has continued to press ahead with his post-war Gaza transition plans, which have been unofficially described as the “day after” that Netanyahu doesn’t support, and would be implemented without him.
