Hamas political leader Osama Hamdan said on Monday that the timing of Israel’s recent massacre of displaced people in the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah confirms its defiance of the recent decisions of the International Court of Justice.

On Sunday evening, 45 Palestinians were killed and 249 injured, most of them children and women, in a new Israeli massacre targeting tents for displaced people in the Tal al Sultan area, northwest of Rafah, according to official Palestinian figures.

Hamdan said, during a press conference in the Lebanese capital Beirut, “For the 234th consecutive day, the occupation continues its barbaric aggression and the war of genocide against our Palestinian people in Gaza”.

He added that Israel continues to commit the most heinous massacres and massacres that are unprecedented in modern times, in disregard of all UN resolutions and international conventions.

He pointed out that the latest massacre of the Israeli occupation was the holocaust of tents, which targeted thousands of displaced people in their camps in Rafah.

He said the massacre was part of a genocidal war being waged by Israel in Gaza and denies its claim of safe places in the Gaza Strip.

Hamdan stressed that “the Israeli occupation’s claim that there were gunmen at the scene of the Rafah massacre during its implementation is false”.

He added that the timing of the massacre is a declaration of defiance by the Netanyahu government of the recent decisions of the International Court of Justice, which issued an order to halt the offensive on Rafah.
