The Iranian Revolutionary Guard reduced the presence of its senior officers in Syria
According to sources in Damascus, Iran decided to reduce the presence of its Revolutionary Guard senior officers in Syria.
Iran’s decision to reduce presence comes partly in response to the demands of extremists in Tehran for revenge, after the recent Israeli attacks, with a focus on at the same time on avoiding direct involvement in the current escalation in the Middle East.
The sources confirmed that Iran doesn’t intend to completely withdraw from Syria, its decision highlights how the ongoing conflict in the Middle East is causing its consequences.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard will remain present in the Syria, and its role will be mainly advisory from afar, and focus on supporting Hezbollah.
As for the Iranian forces and advisors present in Syria, a regional official close to Iran indicated that they had left their offices and centers, indicating that their movement had been reduced to the maximum.
The information also showed the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ fears of sensitive information leaking from inside Syria, especially with the presence of a number of official officials in Damascus.
In previous attacks on January 20, five members of the Revolutionary Guards were killed, including a general who runs the intelligence of the Quds Force, which is responsible for the Guards’ external operations, and on December 25, prominent leader Reza Mousavi was killed in an Israeli strike in the Sayyida Zeinab area of Damascus.
