Qatar announces an agreement between Israel and Hamas to bring medicines and humanitarian aid to Gaza in exchange for delivering medicines to Israeli prisoners in Gaza

Qatar announced, on Tuesday evening, its success in reaching an agreement between Israel and the Hamas movement, which includes the entry of medicines and humanitarian aid for civilians in the Gaza Strip, in exchange for the entry of medicines for Israeli prisoners in the Strip.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that “Qatari mediation succeeded in reaching an agreement between Israel and Hamas movement that includes the entry of medicines and a shipment of humanitarian aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip, especially in the most affected and damaged areas”.

The statement added, “In exchange for delivering the medicines needed by Israeli detainees in the Gaza Strip”.

In turn, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday evening that the transfer of medicines to Israeli detainees in the Gaza Strip will take place starting Wednesday.

This came according to a statement by Netanyahu’s office, which posted on X, after Qatar announced that an agreement had been reached between Israel and Hamas movement, which includes the entry of medicines and humanitarian aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip, in exchange for the entry of medicines for Israeli prisoners in the Strip.

The statement said, “The process of transferring the medicines will take place after the head of the Mossad, David Barnea, agreed with Qatar on the issue of supplying medicines to Israeli detainees”.

The statement added: “Tomorrow (Wednesday), two Qatari Air Force planes will take off for Egypt, carrying medicines purchased in France, according to a list prepared in Israel, in accordance with the medical needs of the kidnappers”.

The statement continued: “When the planes arrive in Egypt, representatives from Qatar will transport the medicines to the Gaza Strip and then to their final destination”.

According to the statement, “Netanyahu asked to convey his appreciation to all who helped during this operation,” adding, “Israel insists that all medicines reach their destination”.

For its part, the White House said on Tuesday that the United States is optimistic about the Qatari-brokered discussions to reach a new agreement between Israel and Hamas to release hostages held in the Gaza Strip.

US National Security Council spokesman Joe Kirby explained during a press conference, “I don’t want to say much since we have discussions and we all hope that they will bear fruit soon”.
