The French President Emmanuel Macron said he intends to speak with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky before holding phone talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“I waited for the opportunity to discuss everything in detail with US President Joe Biden before speaking with Putin, and I also waited to have a conversation with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, with whom I will speak again on Sunday… and of course, as I have always been, you should first talk to President Zelensky”.
Macron said earlier on Saturday that he would discuss Ukraine’s nuclear energy situation with Putin after his talks with Grossi.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Russian Sputnik news agency on Saturday that there was no set date yet for a phone conversation between the Russian president and his French counterpart.
The French president said on Saturday that Paris and Washington should make preparations to facilitate dialogue between Russia and Ukraine.
