The Telegraph: Putin’s warning brought the Europeans to their senses
Journalist Tom Rees said in an article published by The Telegraph newspaper, says that the warning of Russian President Vladimir Putin forced the European Union to abandon the idea of imposing a ceiling on the prices of gas imported from Russia.
The article added: “Brussels didn’t initiate measures to determine the price of Russian gas after President Putin warned that Russia would stop supplying gas if such a decision was taken”.
According to the author of the article, during the last meeting the ministers asked the European Commission to draw up a detailed plan to ease tensions in the energy markets.
Tom Reese adds that Europe is currently experiencing a strong crisis caused by the sharp rise in energy prices and the shortage of its resources”.
Ministers in Brussels are urgently trying to prepare for the harsh winter,” he said.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, commenting on the idea of capping the prices of Russian energy resources, stressed that the West was not in a position to dictate its terms to Moscow.
Putin urged Euro-Atlantic leaders to come to their senses.
