Talks between the US and China reach of mutual agreed to overcome differences and tension and maintain contacts in the economic issue
After the virtual meeting between Chinese Vice Premier Liu He and US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Chinese official media reports said that China and the United States hope to continue contacts between them in light of continuing trade tensions.
China’s official Xinhua News Agency cited “practical, frank and constructive talks” on the macroeconomic situation and bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
“They discussed developments in the state of the macroeconomic and financial situation in both the United States and China, and agreed that developments in our economies have important implications for the global economy”, the US Treasury said in a statement on the content of the conversation between He and Yellen.
“Secretary Yellen has made explicit reference to issues that are important” to the United States, the statement added, without specifics.
For its part, the Chinese side expressed its concern over such issues as raising additional tariffs and sanctions imposed by the US side and fair trade treatment of Chinese companies.
The United States accuses China of unfair trade practices, abuse of government subsidies for companies, restricting access to its markets, violating intellectual property rights and forcing foreign companies to transfer their technologies to China.
