Yedioth Ahronoth: Trump’s Gaza plan will fail because Jordan, Egypt and Iran have created a fire belt around Israel

The Israeli Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper confirmed in an article by Amos Gilad, a reserve brigadier general and former head of the political-security department in the Ministry of Security, that resuming the war on Gaza will put the lives of prisoners at risk.
In light of the statements about the possibility of the ceasefire agreement between Gaza and Israel deal is exploding.
Gilad doubted that anyone wanted that, reminding that Israel abandoned the prisoners on October 7, 2023, acknowledging that there is currently no alternative to returning them through negotiations.
Regarding US President Donald Trump’s plan, the report stressed that it has no chance of success, noting that Egypt and Jordan see the Palestinian issue as a matter of national security danger, of the first degree.
He explained that Jordan, which he considered to constitute a strategic depth and a vital security area for Israel, is in no way prepared to absorb Palestinians, especially those originally from Gaza.
Gilad explained that in Jordan’s view, this type of Trump plan is part of a conspiracy to create an alternative Palestinian state at its expense, and this scenario, if realized, will become a real threat to Israel.
As for Egypt, Gilad confirmed that it’s not prepared in any way to absorb Palestinians from Gaza, even if large sums of money are offered to it as a means of persuasion.
Meanwhile, Gilad noted the rejection of normalization in Jordan and Egypt, which is also gaining momentum in Saudi Arabia, considering that this is due to the enthusiastic way in which the Prime Minister and political parties in Israel adopted the Trump plan.
The report pointed out that Trump himself has already backed away from some of the practical steps in his plan, considering that the emergency meeting of Arab states at the end of this month, on the eve of the month of Ramadan (according to the Islamic calendar), should be viewed with concern, as it’s a period that arouses anti-Israel sentiment.
On another level, Gilad stressed the necessity of reaching security arrangements on the northern front as well, and acknowledged that Hezbollah hasn’t been completely defeated despite being subjected to severe blows.
He added that it’s therefore necessary to reach coordination with the United States, while at the same time preparing for challenges from Syria.
Gilad addressed Iran, classifying it as the main threat to Israel and the entire Middle East.
Gilad said that “this threat is after it has become a nuclear threshold state and based on the ring of fire it has established around Israel”.
