US Vice President: Trump offered Maduro more than one way out and he and his wife but he ignored
US Vice President J D Vance said Saturday that Venezuela has ignored several offers to reach a settlement, adding that its detained president, Nicolás Maduro, is the last person to realize that President Trump means what he says.
“The president has offered more than one way out, but he has been clear throughout this process: Stop drug smuggling and bring stolen oil back to the United States,” Vance said on X.
Vance also stressed the US justification for the move as a fugitive from US justice, saying, “You can’t avoid justice for drug trafficking in the US because you live in a mansion in Caracas”.
US President Donald Trump’s administration announced on Saturday that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, who was arrested, and his wife will face the full wrath of American justice on drug and terrorism charges.
From her part the Us secretary of Justice Pamela Bondi said on X that Maduro and his wife will soon face the full wrath of American justice on American soil and in American courts.
It noted that the couple faces charges in New York federal court related to conspiracy in the framework of drug-related terrorism and conspiracy to import cocaine.
