The Venezuelan president: The US administration is fabricating an eternal war in the Caribbean
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro accused the United States of seeking to create a “new eternal war” in the Caribbean region.
This came in a speech during his participation in a local event in the capital, Caracas, on Friday, where he explained that Washington is building up a military presence near Venezuela with the aim of provoking war.
He said the United States had promised it would never participate in another war, but now it was inventing a new war that we can prevent.
He added, “The American people know this… We must ask them: Do they want another war like Vietnam? Do the American people really support a war against Colombia, Venezuela, and all the peoples of the Caribbean?”
He pointed out that Venezuela is free of coca cultivation, considering the US accusations against his country exaggerated, outrageous, and completely false.
For his part, Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez said in televised statements that his country is preparing for what he described as the threat coming from the United States.
He added: “We’re facing the greatest threat in more than a century… The US Air Force and Navy are increasing their military presence, and this buildup is getting closer to the shores of Venezuela every day… We’re preparing daily, without fear, retreat, or submission”.
On October 18, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, whose country holds the world’s largest oil reserves, announced that security measures had been raised to maximum levels in four western states to counter the US military presence in the Caribbean Sea.
These developments came after Trump announced that he had granted the CIA authorization to carry out operations inside Venezuela under the pretext of combating drugs, at a time when Washington was deploying naval forces near the Venezuelan coast.
