The Israeli army announced, Friday morning, the death of one of its officers in battles in southern Gaza Strip.

The Israeli army confirmed that officer “Rai Biran,” a commander in the Golani Reconnaissance Unit, during fighting in the southern Gaza Strip.

For its part, Israeli Army Radio reported that 890 Israeli soldiers have been killed since the beginning of the war, including 448 killed in the Gaza Strip since the start of the ground operation.

The Israeli Army Radio added that 40 of them were killed in the fighting since the resumption of fighting after the last ceasefire in March 2025.

Two Israeli soldiers were injured on Friday when an anti-tank missile was fired at a tank in the northern Gaza Strip.

According to Israeli Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, since the end of the last ceasefire in March, 41 Israeli soldiers have been killed in the Gaza Strip, bringing the total since the start of the war to 890 dead, including 448 during ground operations.

Israel often doesn’t reveal the true number of its war victims, citing “national security”.
