It’s another international gathering in Russia, this time it’s the Eastern Economic Forum 2019, which will take place at the one of the biggest industrial cities in Russia, as Far East city of Vladivostok.
The Eastern Economic Forum 2019 will take place on 4–6 September in Vladivostok on the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) campus.
The Eastern Economic Forum was established by decree of the Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2015 to support the economic development of Russia’s Far East and to expand international cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.
It was noticeable that Russia, especially after imposing sanctions from the west, started to take serious steps, to strength its economic status, as one of the new emerging super powers.
As, Russia today is one of the biggest energy producers and supplier, now getting serious steps into increase its position in Asia, by improve developmental and mutual economic cooperation with Asian countries, starting from china, to entire Asian nations, in order to create self-dependency and enlarge its presence in the biggest content of the world.
With that being said, it’s known that the real production, manpower, resources etc…
All you can find in Asia, which is the place for the next century economic advancement in the world.
According to Yury Trutnev, the deputy prime minister and the Russian presidential envoy to the Far Eastern Russian federal district, in his statement message to the participants at this year forum:
“The goals we set 5 years ago appeared unattainable back then.
We discussed a broad range of topics: expectations and development prospects, creating new economic regimes and improving the investment climate, passing legislative initiatives and changing legal framework, putting new social infrastructure in place and helping regions reach their potential – in other words, we were talking about the future.
Some were hopeful, some remained skeptical, yet there was only one thing that mattered, and we were ready to act as one, and today, that future has become our present”.
According to numbers, a lot has been accomplished during the last 5 years: over 40 legislative initiatives that sustain investment activity and improve the social sphere have been passed; 20 advanced special economic zones and 5 free ports have been put in place.
These measures resulted in over 1,780 new investment projects worth over 3.8 trillion Russian Rubles, and 230 new enterprises appeared.
The Russian government provides targeted infrastructural and financial support to the investors.
Over 70 thousand people received free land and now are building houses and farms on their ‘Far Eastern hectares’.
In his statement, Trutnev pointed out that, 17 different countries invest in the Far East, as China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam… Since 2014, nearly 32% of all direct foreign investment came to our region.
The Far East itself has expanded: Zabaikalsky Krai and the Republic of Buryatia joined the Far Eastern Federal District, while the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East now oversees an additional region: the Russian Arctic Zone.
When it comes to the social sphere, the ‘Unified Subsidy’ mechanism has provided existing measures with additional stimulus.
57 centers of economic growth have received funding for the construction of schools and nurseries, hospitals as well as medical and obstetric stations, cultural centers and sports facilities.
These centers are home to over 80% of Far Easterners.
A fair amount of good work has been done.
Economic growth in the FEFD exceeds 4%, which is two times greater than the Russian national average.
With that being said, Russia is facing another objective, which is increasing economic growth in the Russian Far East to 6% per year.
As trying to improve the quality of life in the Russian Far East and in the Arctic area, as these objectives was set by the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
It’s worth mention that the forum program will be events at the Forum traditionally take place in the form of panel sessions, roundtables, televised debates, business breakfasts, and business dialogues devoted to Russia’s relationships with various countries.
The Forum business programme includes a number of business dialogues with leading partner countries in the Asia-Pacific region, and with ASEAN, a key integration organization uniting dynamically developing nations in Southeast Asia.
In 2018, the Forum’s central event was the plenary session ‘The Far East: Expanding the Range of Possibilities’ with the participation of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga, Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, and Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Lee Nak-yon.

The Exhibition by the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic exhibition will feature presentations on the entry mechanisms in place in the Far Eastern Federal District (Advanced Special Economic Zones, the Free Port), investment opportunities, the work and objectives of development institutions, and current and future investment projects.
The Welcome to the Russian Far East exhibition will feature presentations by Russian federal government bodies on investment opportunities and incentives and major investment projects in the Far Eastern Federal District involving international cooperation.

As is tradition, the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District and federal executive bodies will take part in the ‘Far East Street’ exhibition.
Guests to the exhibition will be able to attend daily concerts and film screenings.
The fish market will offer visitors an opportunity to taste Far Eastern delicacies.
