Sen. Lindsey Graham: Iran’s ballistic missiles are capable of penetrating the Israeli Iron Dome
US Senator Lindsey Graham said that Iran’s ballistic missiles are capable of penetrating Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system.
This came in an interview with the Israeli newspaper “Jerusalem Post” on Monday, in which he evaluated his visit to Tel Aviv.
Graham stressed that Iran’s efforts to revive its ballistic missile program pose a serious threat, such as Tehran’s nuclear program.
In related context, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to discuss Iran’s ballistic missile program with US President Donald Trump during his visit to Washington later this month.
In response to criticism from Israeli officials of President Trump for focusing only on Iran’s nuclear program and neglecting ballistic missiles, Graham said, “This situation is changing… We cannot allow Iran to produce ballistic missiles because they are capable of penetrating the Iron Dome system”.
“Anything that weakens Israel weakens the United States. Israel is a great ally… When Iran threatens the Jewish state, it also threatens America,” he added.
On June 13, Israel launched a 12-day US-backed aggression against Iran, which included US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
Israel and its ally the United States accuse Iran of seeking to produce nuclear weapons, while Tehran says its program is designed for peaceful purposes, including electricity generation.
