Russia seeks for holding a meeting between Damascus and Ankara
The Russian Foreign Ministry revealed that “Moscow is participating in “active contacts”, with the aim of holding a political meeting between Damascus and Ankara.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said that “the Russian side is actively participating in a dialogue with partners, on the proposal to create a platform for a meeting between the Syrian and Turkish foreign ministers”.
Bogdanov added that “communications regarding the meeting between the two parties are very active,” according to the Russian TASS news agency.
On the other hand, Bogdanov spoke about the existence of a plan to hold the next meeting (19th session) of the Astana talks on Syria before the end of this year, saying: “We’ll set the date soon with the Syrian participants and the guarantor countries”.
Bogdanov explained that the path includes the participation of the countries neighboring Syria, namely Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq, in addition to representatives of the United Nations, stressing that these meetings are held regularly, and are very useful, and play a decisive role in eliminating terrorists in Syria.
