The New York Times reported on Friday that Washington is depleting its stockpile of sensitive weapons as a result of the recent war it waged with Israel against Iran.

The New York Times added, citing sources she described as well-informed, that the US military has consumed about 1,100 long-range cruise missiles since the beginning of the war on Iran, missiles that were originally developed for the possibility of a war with China.

The sources indicated that this number is close to the total number of these missiles that the United States has left in its stockpile.

The report stated that the United States is transferring bombs, missiles, and equipment from Asia and Europe to the Middle East, while simultaneously seeking ways to increase production.

He warned that the Pentagon efforts to strengthen its military presence in the Middle East could reduce its readiness to confront potential traditional adversaries such as Russia and China.

While no White House officials have commented on the cost of the latest war with Iran, according to the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) and the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), the cost of the war is estimated to be between $28 billion and $35 billion.

In a related context, US officials as said that the amount of weapons and ammunition the United States consumed in its war against Iran raised doubts about its ability to fully implement its plans to defend Taiwan in the near term in the event of a possible invasion from China.

In its report, it indicated that restoring US missile stockpiles to pre-war levels could take between one and four years.

Two days ago, CNN said that the US military had largely consumed its missile stockpile in the war on Iran, and that it faced a risk of running out of ammunition in the event of a new conflict in the next few years.
