Maariv: A huge Egyptian-Turkish military deal that could tip the balance of power in the region
Israeli media warned of a huge arm deal between Egypt and Türkiye that could upset the balance of power in the region.
According to Maariv newspaper, a drones deal between the two countries is expected to be announced soon, as part of a series of deals that will be revealed during the upcoming visit of Egyptian President Sisi to Ankara.
Maariv pointed out that the visit of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to Cairo took place in the deliberate absence of Egyptian media, considering that it included a tour of North Sinai.
Maariv said that the deal, which includes Bayraktar drones requested by Cairo, is expected to be announced soon.
The deal aims to cover future maintenance and production operations in Egypt’s military factories, which is what caused the deal announcement to be postponed from the beginning of the year.
In May, Türkiye announced a trade embargo on Israel, including a comprehensive ban on the export and import of goods.
Maariv said that while relations between Israel and Türkiye are witnessing unprecedented tension, as well as between Egypt and Israel due to the Israeli army’s control of the Rafah crossing, relations between Ankara and Cairo are witnessing much better days, and the two countries have become closer to each other in recent months.
