Ilham Ahmed, co-head of foreign relations for the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, said on Tuesday that the Kurds are in contact with Israel and are open to receiving support “from any source”.

“There are certain figures from the Israeli side who are in contact with our side… If these talks lead to support, we are ready to receive that support… From any source,” she said.

The statement came after Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said earlier this month, during clashes between government forces and Kurdish forces in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, that the attacks by Syrian regime forces against the Kurdish minority are grave and dangerous.

“The systematic and bloody repression of various Syrian minorities contradicts promises of a new Syria,” he said.
