Iran unveils a new ballistic missile with a range of 1,200 kilometers
Iran unveiled a new ballistic missile on Sunday with a range of 1,200 kilometers (745 miles), state media reported, as Western countries voice concern over the Islamic Republic’s progress in its ballistic missile program.
Iranian television announced that ” the Qassem Basir ballistic missile, which is powered by solid fuel and has a range of at least 1,200 kilometers, is Iran’s latest defensive achievement”.
Western countries are concerned about the progress of Iran’s ballistic missile program, which is accused of destabilizing the Middle East and placing its arch-enemy, Israel, within its firing range.
Iranian television broadcast footage of the new missile’s launch during an interview with Defense Minister General Aziz Nasirzadeh.
For his part, Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh threatened on Sunday to target US bases and interests in the region if his country is subjected to any aggression.
This came in statements made to Iranian state television, in response to threats by US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to launch military attacks on Iran over its support for the Houthis in Yemen.
Nasirzadeh pointed out that the Houthis in Yemen are independent and make their own decisions, and that Iran has absolutely nothing to do with this issue.
He added, “We advise the United States not to seek to create a crisis in the region, because Iran is not responsible for the downing of the American drone from the ship in the Red Sea”.
He stressed that Iran didn’t start the war and won’t start one, but if its subjected to any aggression or war is declared against it, it will respond forcefully.
He continued, “If this war comes from the United States or the Zionist entity, Iran will target their interests, bases, and forces”.
The Iranian minister pointed out that his country considers its neighbors in the region to be friends, has no animosity toward neighboring countries, and enjoys fraternal relations with them.
