Algeria launched the new satellite Alsat-3A, which will provide Alger with additional data through high-resolution satellite capabilities dedicated to observation, in addition to strengthening its system in the field of geospatial information and geospatial information with added value, such as mapping, digital elevation models, and others.

The launch of the new satellite was supervised by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Defense and Chief of Staff of the Algerian Army, Lieutenant General Said Chengreha, in the presence of the Commander of the First Military District, heads of departments and central directors of the Ministry of Defense, the Algerian Army Staff, in addition to the Chinese Ambassador to Algeria, the Director General of the Algerian Space Agency and the Defense Attaché at the Chinese Embassy in Algeria.

Algerian Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Said Shangriha followed up on the launch of the new satellite, which took place from the Jiuguan launch base in northwest China.

According to an official Algerian statement, the launch was a success, pointing out that Algerian experts contributed to the new satellite, which the statement describes as another important gain added to the geospatial capabilities available in this field, confirming the Algerian state’s relentless efforts to control space technologies.

In 2002, Algeria launched its first Earth observation satellite, Alsat-1, followed by Alsat-2A and Alsat-2B in 2010 and 2016, according to the official statement said.
