The Turkish Hürriyet newspaper reported that a Turkish military delegation will visit Syria in the coming days, during which Ankara will supply the Syrian army with modern weapons.

The Turkish newspaper reported that Ankara, as part of its military cooperation with Damascus, will contribute to the restructuring of the Syrian army and provide it with advanced defense technologies from its own defense industries to enhance its capabilities.

It also indicated that a Turkish officer will be appointed as a military advisor to the Syrian army, while the Turkish military attaché has already begun his duties.

Hürriyet explained that the Syrian government will assume control of institutions in areas previously controlled by the Syria Democratic Forces (SDF), including the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), particularly at border crossings.

The focus will be on disarmament, the expulsion of non-Syrian foreign elements, and the integration of 20,000 SDF members into the Syrian army.

The Turkish newspaper also noted that the agreement concluded between the Syrian government and the SDF had a positive impact on the Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKK) efforts to disarm and dissolve itself. It added that the party’s upcoming congress and its decision to dissolve itself will strengthen the integration process in Syria.

Earlier, the Syrian presidency announced the signing of an agreement with the SDF to integrate civilian and military institutions in northern and eastern Syria into state institutions, while affirming its commitment to the unity of Syrian territory and rejecting any attempts at partition.

In contrast, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) stated that holding a conference to dissolve the party is “impossible” at the present time due to the security situation, as Turkish aircraft continue to fly over and bomb their positions.

Meanwhile, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) responded to the call of its leader, Abdullah Öcalan, who has been imprisoned for 26 years, to dissolve the movement and end the 40-year conflict with Türkiye, which has resulted in the deaths of more than 40,000 people.
