Hürriyet: The demands of the PKK Kurdistan Workers’ Party in exchange for handing over its weapons to the Syrian authorities
The Turkish Hürriyet newspaper revealed that the Syrian Interim Administration conducted negotiations with the PKK, Kurdistan Workers’ Party to hand over its weapons, and that the party stipulated the existence of an independent formation for its forces in the Syrian army.
The Turkish newspaper, which is close to the Ankara government, wrote, “Two meetings were held between the leadership of the PKK, Kurdistan Workers’ Party, the People’s Protection Units and the Syrian Interim Administration… The Kurdish representatives demanded to receive a division or a corps in the official Syrian army in exchange for giving up the weapons they possess”.
Hürriyet pointed out that the Kurds proposed sharing the production of the oil fields – which he is working on and developing with the support of the United States – with the Syrian authorities at a rate of 50%.
Hürriyet reported that the Syrian Interim Administration didn’t accept any conditions proposed by the Kurds.
The Turkish newspaper asked, “How did the new Syrian administration act?”
They demanded that the PKK and the YPG lay down their weapons… This decision is very important.
After all, if the PKK and the YPG didn’t lay down their weapons, why did the Syrian revolution happen?
While other armed groups announced that they would abide by the decision.
Hürriyet concluded that if the PKK, Kurdistan Workers’ Party and the People’s Protection Units don’t lay down their arms, will they return to armed struggle?
Which means that the civil war will start again in Syria.
