Haaretz: US-Iran negotiations will be limited to nuclear power due to Arab pressure
The Israeli Haaretz newspaper, citing a Middle Eastern government source, reported that the agenda of the upcoming US-Iran negotiations in Amman will be limited to Iran’s nuclear program.
According to Haaretz, the United States has agreed to exclude Iran’s ballistic missile program from the agenda, as well as public security issues in the Middle East.
The same source said Washington agreed to these terms under pressure from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Oman.
Haaretz newspaper also noted that Middle Eastern countries are pressuring the United States to abandon the use of force and resort to a diplomatic solution.
The Israeli authorities fear that aspects of the ballistic missile program and other regional security issues will be left off the agenda of the US-Iran negotiations.
Israeli leaders believe that Washington may ignore Israel’s position during the negotiations.
