The Israeli Haaretz newspaper described the war on the Gaza Strip on Friday as absurd, aimless, and extremely brutal.

Haaretz called for an immediate end at any cost, asserting that the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation project, sponsored by Israel and the United States to distribute aid, has completely failed.

In its editorial, the Israeli newspaper said that the Blood is being shed on both sides in vain, and no one will gain anything from it anymore.

Haaretz noted that the killing of Gaza residents continues at full force.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Thursday that more than 300 people had been killed in just 48 hours, describing this toll as an unbearable daily routine.

Haaretz stated that it’s no longer possible to deny that the vast majority of the victims of the war in Gaza are innocent civilians, stressing that the continuation of this mass killing cannot be justified by the current situation.

Haaretz strongly criticized the failure of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation project, which was supposed to ensure the entry of aid to civilians, pointing to an investigation Haaretz conducted in which it collected testimonies from Israeli soldiers who confirmed that the army deliberately fired on civilians gathered near aid distribution centers.

Far from the oversight of the United Nations and international organizations, Tel Aviv and Washington have been implementing a plan since May 27 to distribute limited aid through the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.

The Israeli army has been shelling Palestinians queuing for aid, forcing them to choose between starvation or being shot.

The Israeli-US mechanism for distributing aid in Gaza, as of last Thursday, had resulted in 652 deaths and more than 4,537 injuries, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

Haaretz added, “The situation in Gaza has become extremely dire, and the fact that the vast majority of Israeli media outlets are deliberately concealing it from public view doesn’t diminish its horror, as this situation must stop immediately”.

Haaretz also addressed the indescribable suffering of the hostages who haven’t yet been released, as well as the heavy price the army is paying.

Haaretz emphasized that the test of leadership lies not only in the decision to wage war, but in the ability to end it in a timely manner.

The Israeli newspaper concluded by saying, “On the eve of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Washington, he must end the war in Gaza, and Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir must use all his professional authority to end this war,” stressing that “this war imposes unnecessary costs and should no longer be accepted”.
