A new German intelligence report from Schleswig-Holstein, in the far north German state, revealed detailed information about the secret methods used by Iran to cover up its attempts to secure illegal technology for the most dangerous weapons in the world.

The intelligence document, published by the Jerusalem Post, indicated that “nuclear proliferation remains one of the central counterintelligence tasks in Schleswig-Holstein”.

The Iranians methods of obtaining weapons of mass destruction include, according to the intelligence report, “the creation of a neutral company to deceive the buyer about the true nature of the sale and the creation of illegal buying networks affiliated with front companies and middlemen”.

The CIA said Iran could also use “twisted deliveries through third countries in order not to identify the ultimate buyer”.

According to the intelligence information, the Islamic Republic can also “distribute illegal purchasing activities into many single unsuspecting deliveries to avoid exposing the entire business”.

Tehran can also “hide the end user” and “conceal” the “individual, company, or institution with which the goods remain in the end”.

The report said that the state of Schleswig-Holstein bordering Denmark is a center “for many companies as well as universities, colleges and universities of applied sciences that have sensitive technical knowledge”.

The intelligence agency said that in 2020 it conducted a conversation with companies and academic institutions to “make them aware” of “anti-proliferation” attempts.

The Iranian regime was cited 19 times in the 218-page intelligence report covering the state’s security threats.

In the context of illegal proliferation purchases, the report stated that “products that can be used at the civilian and military levels are of special importance (the so-called dual-use goods) as they are supposed to be easier to obtain.

Countries such as Iran and North Korea continue to seek such products, technologies and scientific knowledge.

In 2013, a Hamburg court convicted 3 Iranians of German dual nationality and German citizenship for violating German export law.

The men used a negotiator for the Islamic Republic to deliver nuclear equipment in Iran.

Prosecutors said in 2012: “In 2010 and 2011, the suspects are believed to have helped deliver special valves to build a heavy-water reactor in Iran, thus violating the ban on Iran”.

The “Jerusalem Post” newspaper reported, Tuesday, that a new report prepared by the Dutch General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD) confirms that the Iranian regime tried to obtain technology in 2020 for weapons of mass destruction.

The Washington Post also reported last month that the Bavarian State Intelligence Agency in Germany said that “countries concerned and interested in nuclear technology such as Iran and North Korea are making efforts to expand and continuously modernize weapons of mass destruction”.

Last April, the newspaper reported that the Swedish Security Agency revealed in its intelligence report for 2020 that Iran had sought to obtain Swedish technology for its nuclear weapons program.
