German Foreign Minister: Putin-led Russia is Europe’s biggest enemy!

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock described Russia on Saturday as Europe’s biggest enemy at the moment, due to its “war on peace” on the continent.
Baerbock’s statements came during her participation in a session on the sidelines of the 61st Munich Security Conference, where she stressed that European countries, despite their differences, stand united.
“When others say: My country first, we respond with: Europe stands together,” Baerbock said.
“We’ll not turn our back on our continent… If there is no peace at the European level, there will be no long-term peace,” she added.
Baerbock said that countries must decide whether they will stand with the free world or with those who fight it.
She also expressed her disagreement with the statements made by US Vice President J.D. Vance, which he made on Friday during the Munich conference.
The German minister considered that the continent’s biggest enemy currently is Russia, led by Vladimir Putin, because it declared war on peace and democracy in Europe.
She explained that the easiest way to achieve peace in Ukraine is for Putin to realize that he made a grave mistake and withdraw his forces.
Baerbock added that Putin isn’t only fighting Ukraine, but also fighting NATO, the Europeans, the Americans, and the free world, stressing that that peace must not mean NATO doesn’t disintegrate.
Baerbock also considered that Ukraine’s accession to NATO in the future would be the most economical option for Europe and the alliance.
She stressed the importance of cooperation with Middle Eastern countries for Europe, saying, “Putin withdrew from Syria, and what is happening in Russia also affects Arab countries, so we must unite our strength”.
In response to a question about whether Germany would supply Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles, Baerbock explained that there was a need for a unified European position on the matter.
It’s worth noting that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced his refusal to provide Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles, while the candidate of the Christian Alliance (opposition) for the position of Chancellor Friedrich Merz doesn’t object to this, and stipulates that this be in agreement with “our European partners”.
