Amid confront the growing political pressure from the far right, and seeking for a fresh start for the rest of his term, French President Emmanuel Macron, appointed former Education Minister Gabriel Attal to form the new government.

The Elysee Palace announced that French President Emmanuel Macron assigned former Education Minister Gabriel Attal to form the government, after the resignation of Elisabeth Borne.

In his first comment on the topic, Attal stressed that he will always remain alongside the education sector, after having been Minister of Education in the Borne government.

Attal will be the youngest head of government in the history of France, as he is 34 years old.

For his part, the leader of the leftist “France Proud” party, Jean-Luc Mélanchamp, criticized the appointment and said, “Attal will be an official spokesman for Macron, because the position of prime minister has disappeared in France, as the president of the republic controls all powers”.

Gabriel Attal was born on March 16, 1989 in Clamart, near Paris.

His father, Yves Attal, was a lawyer and then a film producer, and his mother, Marie De Corres, works in a production company, and he has three sisters and a younger adopted brother.

He was passionate about politics from a very early age, and from his high school years he campaigned against the government’s initiative to amend the then labor law.

He became a member of the Socialist Party in 2006, and participated in Ségolène Royal’s candidacy for the 2007 presidential elections, while studying at the Institute of Political Studies in Paris, from which in 2012 he obtained a master’s degree in public affairs.
