Daily Mail: British Labor Party MPs are demanding Starmer’s resignation against the background of the Epstein files scandal
Labor MPs are calling for the resignation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer following the departure of his cabinet chief of staff over the scandal over former ambassador to Washington Peter Mandelson’s relationship with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
This came after Morgan McSweeney, the head of the Cabinet Office, resigned from his post earlier, stating that he personally supported Mandelson’s candidacy for the post of US ambassador, and that he bears full responsibility for this decision.
He also expressed his full confidence in Prime Minister Starmer.
“Labour MPs have called for Keir Starmer to resign after his head of government office was forced to leave Downing Street over the Peter Mandelson scandal,” the Daily Mail said.
MPs believe Starmer should learn from what happened after Mandelson’s appointment, although his links to Epstein have already been revealed.
Moreover, the Daily Mail notes that many Labor MPs are publicly questioning Starmer’s chances of staying in Downing Street amid the scandal.
Earlier, McSweeney resigned over the scandal surrounding the appointment of Peter Mandelson, who was a friend of American financier Jeffrey Epstein convicted of child molestation, as Britain’s ambassador to the United States.
McSweeney played a pivotal role in appointing Mandelson as Britain’s ambassador to Washington.
