Naval units of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army conducted a massive military parade near the Taiwan Strait, amid tensions between Beijing and Taipei and Washington’s talk of supporting the Taiwanese army against China in the event of war.

The Chinese “People” newspaper, reported noting that the eastern command of the army conducted a naval patrol near the Taiwan Strait, on Tuesday, in response to what China describes as “the island’s separatist tendencies”.

Beijing considers Taiwan part of Chinese territory and threatens to restore it, even by force if necessary, while the ruling Democratic Progressive Party on the island considers it an independent country.

China warned the United States against supporting Taiwan and motivating it to take what China describes as “dangerous policies” after Washington announced that it would help Taiwan if it was attacked by China.

While China has one of the most powerful armies in the world and its fleet ranks first in the world, Taiwan plans to confront any possible Chinese attack with military tactics that include relying on mobile combat groups, reducing the size of fixed forces that can be targeted, and focusing on electronic warfare methods.
