The Wall Street Journal said on Saturday that 12 US military personnel were wounded as a result of an Iranian attack strike targeting Prince Sultan Air Base in the Riyadh region of central Saudi Arabia.

This came according to WSJ, quoting a number of American and Arab officials without naming them, while no official announcement was issued in this regard, either from Riyadh or Washington, until 06:00 GMT.

However, hours ago, the Saudi Ministry of Defense announced the interception of a ballistic missile launched towards the Riyadh region, and 3 drones in the country’s airspace, without specifying a location.

The officials told the Wall Street Journal that the wounded US soldiers were inside a building at Prince Sultan Air Force that was hit by an Iranian missile and several drones.

Two US soldiers were seriously wounded, while 10 others suffered concussions, one official said.

According to two officials, at least one missile and several drones hit the base, and also damaged several US refueling tanker planes.

According to the Wall Street Journal, this is at least the second strike to target Prince Sultan’s base during the war against Iran, pointing out that the previous strike, which took place on March 14, caused damage to five refueling planes.

An Iranian official announced that 5 people were killed and 7 others were wounded in a US-Israeli raid on the Zanjan province in the north of the country.

On Saturday, the Fars news agency quoted the deputy governor of Zanjan, Ali Sadeghi, as saying that a US-Israeli airstrike targeted an apartment building in Zanjan overnight.

He added that the raid resulted in the death of 5 civilians and the wounding of 7 others who were taken to hospitals.
