US Patriot missile falls on residential area in Bahrain
In a new development that reflects the state of chaos and escalation in the Gulf region, conflicting media reports reported that a missile landed on a residential area on Bahrain’s Sitra Island, amid a state of uncertainty about the source of the explosion and whether it was caused by an Iranian attack or a technical malfunction in a US Patriot missile.
According to media reports, a missile was launched from a US Patriot missile system located in Bahrain landed on a residential area in the city of Sitra, due to a technical malfunction.
There has been no official confirmation from Bahraini or US authorities for this account so far.
On the other hand, the Bahraini Ministry of Interior had earlier announced casualties due to two powerful explosions that occurred on Sitra Island, and attributed the official cause to an Iranian drone attack that targeted the area.
This discrepancy in information reflects the state of confusion and extreme alert that the Gulf region is experiencing in the midst of an open war between Iran and the US-Israeli alliance.
The news comes in the context of a violent regional escalation, with the United States and Israel waging an intensified war against Iran since February 28, during which Tehran has responded with waves of missile and drone attacks on US and Israeli targets in the region.
On Sunday, Bahrain’s Bapco Energies declared a state of “force majeure” over its operations, following an Iranian attack on one of the group’s refinery units.
Iranian media reports also reported violent explosions at the US Fifth Fleet base in the capital, Manama, news that has not yet been confirmed by official sources.
As the war continues and the exchanges of blows continue, mystery remains the master of the situation on the ground.
Between the narrative of the Iranian attack adopted by the Bahraini authorities and the narrative of the Patriot missile malfunction promoted by some media reports.
