Reports: US F-15 crashes in western Iran and rescues its crew in an Israeli-US operation
On Thursday, media reports revealed that a US F-15 Eagle fighter jet crashed in western Iran, in an incident that comes in light of the escalation of military tensions in the region.
According to the circulating information, the crew members of the plane were able to use the ejection system moments before it crashed, which allowed them to survive the accident, but they found themselves in a hostile area, which made their rescue operation complicated and dangerous.
Shortly after the incident, a joint rescue operation involving US and Israeli military forces was launched, where the executing force was able to reach the crew and get them out of Iranian territory safely.
Initial assessments suggest that the rescue operation may have involved the Israeli Air Force’s Special Rescue Unit 669, a unit specialized in combat search and rescue operations, but official sources haven’t yet confirmed this information.
This development came hours after a significant military escalation in the region, as sirens were sounded across Israel following the firing of a large number of ballistic missiles and drones from Iranian territory towards Israeli residential areas.
Residents in the center of the country reported hearing loud explosions as a result of the work of air defense systems, but no human casualties were reported, according to initial reports.
Meanwhile, the pentagon denied these reports, as saying that no US fighter jet were shot down in Iran, as this news are far from truth.
