Maariv: Our army is being depleted and technical failures are accumulating in tanks and weapons
The Israeli army is facing mounting problems due to technical malfunctions in its tanks and weapons, which have been participating in the 20th month of its genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.
Maariv newspaper reported, “Soldiers, company and battalion commanders, and even brigade commanders have reported in recent days that problems have accumulated due to technical malfunctions in tanks, armored personnel carriers, and maneuvering force weapons in Gaza”.
The Israeli newspaper added, “The Seventh Brigade reported difficulties in providing spare parts for tanks, as the main components in the army’s inventory are engines, tracks, and drive systems, and nothing else is available”.
An unnamed senior brigade commander was quoted as saying, “We’ve been at war for about two years in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, and now again in Gaza… There is tremendous wear and tear on the vehicles that are constantly moving from one mission to another”.
He continued, “No one is prepared for the possibility of such a long war… After all, every component has a shelf life”.
According to Maariv newspaper, “The situation isn’t limited to the Seventh Brigade alone, but rather includes all regular army brigades: armored, artillery, and various infantry brigades,” added, “During the Shavuot holiday (last week), a technical malfunction in a tank gun belonging to the Givati Brigade led to a major disaster”.
“The temperature of the cannon rose, causing a fire in a neighborhood in Jabaliya in northern Gaza, and a fire engine was brought to the area to extinguish it”.
“After the fire was extinguished, the fire engine’s escort convoy was ambushed with explosive devices planted by Hamas militants, killing three soldiers and seriously wounding two others,” the Israeli newspaper reported.
Maariv also quoted an unnamed senior officer as saying, “The military vehicles need maintenance, replacement, and renewal, but the army is suffering from a shortage of spare parts”.
