Haaretz: What Israel is committing in Gaza is a mass war crime
The Haaretz newspaper acknowledged on Tuesday that what the Israeli army is committing in the Gaza Strip constitutes a mass war crime.
“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich aren’t trying to hide the crimes they are already committing or those planned for the near future: the destruction of Gaza, its occupation, and the orchestration of mass displacement,” according to the Israeli newspaper.
Haaretz added, “For them (Netanyahu and Smotrich), the humanitarian catastrophe is just a public diplomacy issue,” pointing out to Netanyahu’s statements on Monday, as he affirmed his determination to continue the war in Gaza, saying in a video posted on Telegram, “We’ll control all of the Gaza Strip… That’s what we will do”.
The Israeli newspaper continued, “What Israel is doing in Gaza isn’t a matter of public diplomacy, but a collective war crime… The images coming out of Gaza are an indelible stain on Israel’s moral conscience”.
Haaretz added, “Instead of prolonging this catastrophe, the government must allow in massive humanitarian aid to immediately halt the mass starvation of Palestinians and end the war through a ceasefire agreement that guarantees the return of all hostages”.
