Haaretz: The Israeli army is preparing to annex Rafah to the buffer zone that Israel prohibits Palestinians from accessing
The Israeli Haaretz newspaper revealed on Wednesday that the Israeli army is preparing to make the Rafah area, which constitutes one-fifth of the Gaza Strip, “part of the buffer zone that Israel prohibits Palestinians from accessing”.
Haaretz reported that the buffer zone the Israeli army is preparing to establish covers an area of 75 square kilometers, located between the Philadelphi and Morag roads, and includes the city of Rafah and its surrounding neighborhoods in the southern Gaza Strip.
Haaretz added that, by annexing Rafah and the surrounding neighborhoods to the buffer zone, thus, the Israeli army won’t allow Palestinian residents to return to the Rafah area and is considering demolishing all buildings there.
