Key components of the US-made THAAD defense system have arrived in Israel in recent days, the second to be deployed in the country since the recent Iranian attack on Israel, about six months ago.

The Israeli media, including the official Israel Broadcasting Corporation and Maariv newspaper, reported that a large US military Galaxy cargo plane transported the battery components to an Israeli Air Force base in recent days, without identifying the aircraft.

This development comes amid escalating US pressure on Iran over its nuclear program.

US President Donald Trump recently set a deadline for an Iranian response, while Washington has dispatched strategic bombers to the Indian Ocean and dozens of fighter jets to the region.

According to the official broadcasting authority, the Israeli military is preparing for the possibility that Iran will make a strategic mistake by launching a large-scale attack, including the launch of hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones against Israeli targets.

Israel’s military preparations are currently directed toward Iran and Yemen as the primary sources of potential threats.

An Israeli security source told the Israel Broadcasting Authority on Sunday evening, “Israel and the United States are working in full coordination and are preparing for all scenarios”.

THAAD is one of the world’s most advanced missile defense systems, designed to intercept short- and medium-range ballistic missiles in their terminal phase—that is, as they enter the Earth’s atmosphere or even outside it.
