Mali receives 65,500 tons of Russian wheat
Russia has provided 65,500 tons of wheat to Mali, which was received by the Malian ambassador to Guinea Conakry, Colonel Mamadou Keita, who supervised its transportation by land to the country.
The Malian diplomat explained in a statement on the occasion that his country received about 98 thousand tons of food supplies in 2023, provided by Russia.
The ambassador praised the cooperation between his country and Russia, which was embodied in providing food aid, concluding agreements in the energy field, and exporting weapons of war to enhance Mali’s efforts to confront armed groups.
In February 2024, Russian Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev announced that Moscow had completed its initiative to ship 200,000 tons of free grain to six African countries, in implementation of a previous pledge by President Vladimir Putin.
The minister explained that Russia shipped 50,000 tons each to Somalia and the Central African Republic and 25,000 each to Mali, Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe and Eritrea.
