In protest against the genocide in Gaza: An American journalist attempts to burn himself near the White House
A person claiming to be a journalist tried to set himself on fire near the White House in Washington, in protest against the genocide being committed by Israel in Gaza.
Footage on social media on Sunday showed US police intervening to prevent a man from setting himself on fire during a solidarity demonstration marking the first anniversary of the genocide in Gaza.
As the man tried to set himself on fire, he shouted, “I am a journalist… Please stop the fake news”.
The footage showed the person suffering burns on his arm, while eyewitnesses said that the person was a journalist working for CBS, which was publishing false news about Gaza.
According to eyewitnesses, a man entered a group of demonstrators supporting Palestine and demanding an end to the Israeli war on Gaza and Lebanon, where policemen were trying to disperse the demonstration.
The man stood up and shouted, “Stop the war… Free Palestine” and tried to set himself on fire.
The policemen, who were very close to him, rushed to put out the fire and tried to provide first aid, as the man was immediately taken to receive treatment.
