Republican presidential candidate, and former president Donald Trump, with the help of two of his former advisers, has come up with a detailed plan aimed at ending the conflict in Ukraine that has been going on since February 2022.

Details of the plan were revealed in a paper released by the America First Institute, which has close ties to Trump.

The plan was prepared by Keith Kellogg and Fred Flitz, who held key positions on the National Security Council during the Trump administration between 2017 and 2021.

The plan is to urge Ukraine to enter peace talks with Russia by blocking the provision of any additional US weapons unless it agrees to negotiate.

At the same time, Moscow will be pressured to participate in the negotiations while postponing any plans for Ukraine’s accession to NATO for a long time.

If Russia refuses to negotiate, the United States will increase its military support for Ukraine.

It also noted the need to implement a ceasefire based on the current front lines during peace talks.

If Trump wins the election, it will be necessary to bring Russia and Ukraine to the negotiating table as soon as possible.

The plan was presented to Trump, as he reacted positively to it, saying, “We’re happy with the feedback we received,” without confirming whether Trump had fully approved it.

Regarding official statements, Stephen Cheung, a spokesman for the Trump campaign, noted that any statements regarding Trump’s official plans should only be made by Trump or authorized members of his campaign.

Trump has previously stated that he can quickly end the war in Ukraine if he defeats President Joe Biden in the election scheduled for November 5.

Regarding the reactions, the Kremlin stressed that any peace plan proposed by the future Trump administration must reflect the reality on the ground, with Russian President Vladimir Putin stressing his readiness for negotiations.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov explained that the value of any plan lies in its details and in the extent to which it responds to the reality on the ground.

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry on the other hand, didn’t respond to requests for comment on the plan.

As for US President Joe Biden’s campaign, it criticized Trump, with campaign spokesman James Singer saying that “Trump always praises Putin and will not stand against him or defend democracy”.
