Walla: IDF reserve officers criticize political leadership following killing of 8 Israeli soldiers in Gaza Strip
A report by the Israeli website Walla said on Saturday that a large number of army reserve officers have sharply criticized the political leadership following the killing of 8 Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip.
According to one officer, “the pattern of fighting in Rafah is flawed, and military operations should have proceeded faster and more decisively”.
Another officer told Walla website that there was a feeling among senior army reserve officers that there is no clear purpose for many of the missions in the Gaza Strip.
The officer stressed that such matters negatively affect and hurt the morale of military commanders and fighters on the ground.
According to one officer, the Rafah operation should have proceeded faster and carried out in a different way, but officials decided to do so in other areas such as Khan Yunis and others.
The Israeli army announced that eight of its soldiers were killed in the southern Gaza Strip on Saturday, as Israeli forces continued their incursion into and around the city of Rafah and continued to shell several areas in the Gaza Strip, killing at least 19 Palestinians.
The Israeli army said the eight soldiers, all from Israel’s Combat Engineering Corps, were on board an armored tanker that exploded, detonating materials they were dreaming of in an apparent contradiction to normal practices.
The Israeli army said it was investigating the incident, which occurred early Saturday morning in the Tel al Sultan area, west of Rafah.
