The Telegraph: Russia dismissed a senior naval commander after the recent major setbacks in the Black Sea

The Telegraph reported that the Kremlin dismissed the Supreme Commander of the Russian Navy, after a series of setbacks and losses in the Black Sea.

According to Russian Izvestia newspaper and the St. Petersburg News Agency, Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov, who had served as Supreme Commander of the Russian Navy since May 2019, had been dismissed and replaced by Admiral Alexander Moiseev.

The Telegraph considers that the Russian Navy was severely criticized during the war in the Black Sea, as it failed to defeat the smaller Ukrainian Navy.

According to reports, Russian naval forces were expelled from the occupied Crimean Peninsula after being subjected to Ukrainian drone strikes and missiles that led to the destruction of many Russian ships and submarines.

Regarding recent developments, satellite images published by the Telegraph showed a significant expansion of military cemeteries in Russia, indicating the heavy human price paid by the Kremlin forces in Ukraine since the beginning of the war in February 2022.

In addition, Moscow built a new naval base in the Black Sea, in a region of Georgia loyal to it.

In recent weeks, Ukrainian intelligence announced that a drone attacked and sank a Russian patrol ship, killing 7 sailors.
